Hungarian police fired tear gas and water cannon on Wednesday, September 16, to disperse hundreds of protesting refugees and migrants demanding they be allowed passage from the Serbian border town of Horgos into Hungary. Hundreds of frustrated asylum seekers have been stranded on the Hungarian border since Monday evening, when authorities completed a razor-wire security fence, blocking access into the country. This footage shows chaotic scenes in Horgos, Serbia, as Hungarian authorities fire tear gas on refugees who threw objects at them and made attempts to break through the border gates. According to journalists at the scene, people at the Horgos-Roszke border crossing heard gates to Hungary had opened so they ran up with their children, only to be tear gassed.
