Palestine: Violent Clashes Escalate at Al-Aqsa Mosque
  • 9 years ago
Protests were held in Gaza on Monday as violent clashes escalated between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem. On Saturday, police stormed the holy shrine, firing teargas and rubber-coated steel bullets at outraged Palestinians. A provocative appearance by Israeli Construction Minister Uri Ariel, accompanied by 80 Jewish settlers, further inflamed the situation. At Gaza protests organized by Islamic Jihad, spokespersons said the Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves and their holy sites against such Israeli crimes. Noor Harazeen reports from Gaza for teleSUR.
