500-Year Low Recorded In Sierra Nevada Snowpack

A new study has found that snowpack levels in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California reached their lowest in around 500 years; these findings highlight the drought conditions that have been plaguing the state, as the snowpack is a major contributor to water reservoirs.

There is more bad news about the historic drought conditions in California.


According to a recent study, snowpack around the Sierra Nevada mountains reached the lowest level in at least 500 years. 


Researchers found that only 5 percent of the average water equivalents had accumulated based on April 1st measurements. 


At one particular site, no snow cover was found. Typically, the area is about five feet deep
