Heinz Is Not Ketchup!? - Food Feeder
Israel has a problem with Heinz and now there’s a going to be a food fight! Or at least a legal battle over their ability to use the word ketchup.

A rival ketchup, or is it catsup, manufacturer in Israel claims that they sent a sample of Heinz Ketchup to a lab and the results showed that it contained only 21% tomato concentrate. Standards in Israel require at least 41% tomato concentrate to be called ketchup so the Health Ministry is now requiring Heinz to relabel their product as “tomato seasoning”.

Heinz is not going to take this without a fight and they are contesting the results and are petitioning to get the definition of ketchup changed. It seems strange that after all these decades Heinz is just now being called into question about their ketchup but Israel’s Health Ministry was probably really busy all these years.

Do you think Heinz should still be allowed to call it’s product ketchup? What is your favorite ketchup brand? Do you think it should be spelled ketchup or catsup? Do you believe people who use ketchup on hot dogs are evil? What is your favorite condiment?
