A bizarre video has emerged from China of a doctor working to remove a lighter from inside a man who managed to swallow it.

The footage was captured during a gastrointestinal endoscopy in a Yangzhou hospital this weekend to locate and remove the item.

According to local reports of the unusual incident the man is thought to have been under the influence of drugs when he swallowed it.
