Jinan spent nearly three months as a captive of the Islamic State group after the jihadists overran the villages of her Yazidi ethnic minority in Northern Iraq in early August 2014. Jinan is one of a fortunate few: She managed to escape her tormentors. She tells the story of her ordeal in a harrowing book entitled "Esclave de Daech" ("Slave of the Islamic State group”) published by Fayard in French, and written with the help of a French journalist, Thierry Oberlé.
