Saturday-Night-Special---Lynyrd-Skynyrd---Dru

I always thought this was a pretty cool drum part, but never tried covering it. So this falls in the "unfinished business" category from my youth (or is it "unstarted business" in this case?). I always wondered if the snare/china beat used throughout the verse was designed by drummer Artimus Pyle to sound like a gun shot? Regardless, it is a cool effect, especially with the slight delay. I also like the choppy beat in the chorus, the hi-hat lifts in the pre-chorus and the timing of the fill in the transition into the lead guitar passage. And who would have expected an anti-gun song from a Southern rock band back in the mid-70s? Well, maybe a lot of people, but it arguably goes against type. A fun little song from the best Southern rock band ever.
