Chile: Mapuches Seek Resolution of Historical Grievances

Representatives of Chile's Mapuche indigenous communities unsuccessfully attempted to meet the country's Interior Minister yesterday. They left a document proposing measures to resolve the current conflict with truckers in southern Chile. Among their demands are the establishment of a Commission for Historical Clarification to address injustices committed by the government against their communities, the restitution of their lands, and the formation of a Mapuche constituent assembly. teleSUR
