EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Fatal deputy-involved shooting. Bexar deputies shot, killed man while responding to disturbance call. ANTONIO - KSAT12 News has obtained exclusive cellphone video capturing a fatal Bexar County sheriff's deputy-involved shooting Friday in the 24400 block of Walnut Pass.

KSAT12 has made the editorial decision to freeze the video right before the shooting occurs that leads to the death of the suspect.
The video above shows the moments leading up to the fatal shots and stops just before the shots were fired. The sound from the recording continues over the freeze frame.

The video was obtained from Michael Thomas, who witnessed the shooting and contacted KSAT12.

The Incident in the 24400 block of Walnut Pass

Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at 11:30 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found a woman bleeding from a cut on her head. She was holding a baby who appeared to possibly have been injured, sheriff's officials said.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies attempted to subdue the man by non-lethal means, but ultimately had to use their firearms when non-lethal means failed.

Thomas, a student at the University of the Incarnate Word, was in the area when he witnessed deputies chasing after a man accused of domestic violence.

The video shows the shirtless suspect running through the front yard of the home.

"I was watching and wondering, what was going on, but I couldn't figure it out. I was like, with the things going on in the world, like different type of shootings with cops and different things like that, so I was like, 'Well, maybe I can catch something with my camera,'" Thomas said.

The video shows the deputies follow the man to the edge of the driveway.

"He kind of just put his hands in the air. After he put his hands in the air, they shot him," Thomas said.

The man was shot twice and died a short time afterward, the sheriff's officials said.

The Sheriff's Office held a press conference Friday evening to address the shooting. Watch the full press conference here.
"Certainly what's in the video is a cause for concern, but it's important to let the investigation go through its course so that we can assure a thorough and complete review of all that occurred," Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau said.

Pamerleau said the suspect allegedly injured an 18-month-old child and woman who were inside the home at the time. She said the deputies tried Tasers and shields to subdue the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

"Two deputies attempted to arrest the individual and he resisted. They also used, tried to use, non-lethal force weapons to try and detain him and after a lengthy confrontation, both deputies fired shots," Pamerleau said.

Thomas said he hopes his video sheds light on the investigation.

"When things happen like that, I actually like to look into them and kind of see what's the real story, instead of what people are just kind of saying," he said.

The deputies have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation into the shooting. Both have been with the department for at least 10 years.
