Gyeongbokgung Palace's night tour is so popular that its tickets sell out within 10 minutes of release online. As the night tour only opens for a few weeks out of the year, it serves as a rare opportunity for the visitors to enjoy the palace under ambient lights.In June, Gyeongbokgung Palace's excavation team announced the discovery of Korea's very first electric power plant inside the palace. Called "Electric Light Plant," the power plant was built in 1887 and lit up Korea's night for the first time 128 years ago. Until the discovery, Electric Light Plant only existed in the pages of written history.Gyeongbokgung Palace is starting to recover its original form. This year, Heungbokjjeon Hall's restoration began. A total of US$ 17.5 million will be invested until 2018.
