U.S. Marks 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina

Today is the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which wrought havoc on the U.S. Gulf Coast and the city of New Orleans, which was severely flooded. More than 1,800 persons died and hundreds of thousands were left homeless. The inadequate government relief efforts stirred public opinion and led to strong criticism of the George Bush administration. The date was marked in New Orleans by a series of events, including a jazz funeral, a Louisiana tradition. teleSUR
