A breakdown in garbage collection has sparked angry protests, the likes of which Lebanon rarely sees. Demonstrators are putting aside entrenched sectarian differences and voicing their outrage over the mismanagement of government services, corruption, and the heavy-handed crackdown on their rallies. Could change be afoot? Will these protests lead to an uprising similar to the one in 2005? Or will it pit the country's rival sectarian parties to unite against a common enemy: the angry street?
