Oil spill control technology that blocks spreading of oil on sea
With various oil spill control technologies such as sorbents, oil fence and biological agents being used, a team of Korean researchers has developed a technology that easily removes only oil using a special scoop net. With a curved shaped surface, the special scoop net was created by using nano-structures that combine well with water under the oxygen plasma method. It has an advantage of directly absorbing and even recycling the oil. If commercialized, it will be an innovative oil spill control technology to deal with oil spill incidents on sea. We will explore the existing and next generation oil spill control technologies.
