The Flip Flop Movement has grown from a duo (living 1600 km apart , Townsville & Sunny Coast!) to a fully fledged gigging band , in 6 months ..
Thanks to Frank Beddoes for the input over the years & for the name which Ron thought of as an acronym 'For Life Improvement Purpose , For Love Over Power'.
As a last minute entry into battle of the bands ( Woombye Pub 2014) & just 3 weeks practice , we astounded ourselves by securing a spot at the 2014 Caloundra Music Festival, and continue to enjoy gigs , mainly around the Sunshine Coast area...
We're definitely a family affair with , a father (Ron, guitar , keys & vox), 2 sons( Jordan & Nathan who make up the rhythm section , Bass & Drums respectively ) & a nephew (Kyren , Rapper ) which make up the bulk of the Movement . We're rounded out with Kyle ( Lead vox & guitar ) & Levi ( Turntables / Traktor ) . Kyle & Kyren have had some experience, going into X- factor as a dance/rap/singing trio called the L-La Mintz & making it past boot camp into the 3rd round (until they had to do a Whitney Houston song with 15 girls ! ). Jordan & Nathan come from a heavier punk/grunge/garage band setup & Levi & Ron have worked together for the last 10 years as renderers !
The Flip Flop Movement continues to hone it's 'sound', we like simple catchy grooves with harmonious melody , easy to listen to & easy to move to , We hope to catch you around the Sunshine Coast sometime... Peace & Blessings.
