Omar Gaindefall and Yusuke Tsuda met at an impromptu performance in 2010 and have been performing together ever since. They released their first album "Begue" in 2014 after realizing how important it is for many people to hear the sound of Omar's music style "Griot", which has spanned several generations in Senegal. They alone performed a successful live show in Japan. They also performed in the opening ceremony of the 8th African Festival Yokohama 2015 which African Ambassadors to Japan attended. Having done many tours throughout Japan, they continue to discover and perform new styles of African music.
Omar とYusukeとの即興演奏での出会いにより、2010年より活動開始。セネガルに数世代に渡る音楽家系(グリオ)であるOmarの音楽を、ジャンルを超えた沢山の人たちに聴いてもらうべく、現在のメンバーでのレコーディングにより1stAlbum「BEGUE」を2014年に発表。横浜サムズアップや渋谷UNDER DEER LOUNGEでのワンマンライブで大成功をおさめる。2015年第8回アフリカンフェスティバルよこはま2015にて、アフリカ各国駐日大使が出席した開会式にて演奏。全国各地でのツアー演奏を経験し、現在も新しいスタイルのアフリカンミュージックを発信している。
Omar Gaindefall / オマール・ゲンデファル
Born in Senegal, Omar is an all-round musician who is not only capable of mastering percussion instruments like the sabar, djembe and talking drum, but is also well known for his singing and dancing skills. He was raised in the Chine area amongst a family of musicians, where his natural talent for playing percussion instruments soon led him to play at religious ceremonies and celebrations. Not only being involved with tours as a djembe soloist with the Senegal National Dance Companies, he also participated in various artists' recordings of popular music in the world. Since 2005, his performing base is Japan and Senegal.
セネガル出身。 サバール、ジェンベ、タマ（トーキングドラム）などのドラムを操る打楽器奏者であるとともに、歌や踊りにも秀でたオールラウンドミュージシャン。伝承音楽家としてシノメウ舞踊団およびセネガル国立舞踊団に所属し、ジェンベソリストとして世界各地をツアーするとともに、ポピュラー音楽の領域でも数々のミュージシャンのライブ／レコーディングに参加。現在はセネガルと日本を拠点に活動。
