Gomas is a Peruvian indie pop band from Lima, formed in 2012. They are currently not signed to any label. The band consists of lead vocalist and keyboardist Susana Cebrián, bassist/guitarist/keyboardist and backing vocalist Hernando Suárez, electronic percussionist and backing vocalist Mariel Cebrián, guitarist and backing vocalist Giacomo Roncagliolo, keyboardist and bassist Teté Leguía and drummer Muriel Holguín.
The band released its first maxi-single Gomas in 2013, wich included 3 songs “Novata”, “A Medellín” and “Ofuscación”. The band next released was a demo called Canas Verdes in 2014, wich included 7 songs, on wich one of them was the videoclip version of their single “Ofuscación”. All of this recorded DIY in Hernando’s home studio and released by the independet label Cosmica Discos.
In March 2015, the band started to record their first official álbum wich will contain new versions of all previous demo songs and also new songs, but this time recorded in a professional studio instead of home demo recordings.
In Lima, Gomas is well known for being a very fresh proposal in the independent music scene. As said in this quote from Dedomedio magazine:
“Although their sound follows most of indie pops conventional guidelines, GOMAS, headed up by Susana Cebrián and Hernando Suárez, has proven to be one of the bands with the biggest personality in Lima’s music scene. What sets them apart are the infinite layers of sound that jump out at you unexpectedly: applauses, toy pianos, videogame sounds, barking dogs, etc.
If a Warhol painting had a soundtrack, it would probably sound like Gomas"
