Some rumors simply go too far

Should celebrities have to put up with rumors about themselves simply because they're public figures? In Korea, a public figure is usually defined as someone whose salary is paid with taxes. But as the impact celebrities have on our society continues to grow, many have begun calling celebrities public figures as well. Then does that mean that they have a duty to uphold a certain image, and a responsibility to manage rumors that may damage their reputation? Celebrities make their living on the attention and adoration of the public--sometimes it seems their fame is fed by gossip and rumors. But does that mean they waive the right to a private life? Are these rumors and invasions of privacy simply a part of the "job description?" Is this the price of fame? This week, Shooters asks, "Are rumors part of the burden of being a celebrity?"
