Jet Contrails Determined To Have Effects On Weather

The contrails left in the wakes of commercial jets impact the weather by compressing daily temperature ranges.

For some time many have suggested that the contrails created by passing jets have an effect on the weather.

Though such claims were often dismissed as a borderline conspiracy theory, it turns out the ice crystal streams left by planes actually do impact ground temperatures. 

Geographers at Penn State learned this while doing research about the days following the September 11th attacks when there were no commercial planes in the sky.
