The village of Lho to Deairali in Nepal was badly damaged during the two major earthquakes on April 25 and May 12, and landslides destroyed the trails connecting the village monastery to the outside world, putting the lives of the monks in danger. The World Food Programme flew in by helicopter and evacuated around 60 children and their caretakers from the monastic school and transported the young monks to another village where they received medical treatment.
