Uptick of Lyme Disease Attributed to Global Warming

Experts have found a link between global warming and an increase in tick population, leading to a spike in Lyme disease—so those spending time outside should be prepared. Tick repellant is an essential first line of defense, along with wearing long sleeves and pants during a hike. A full-body check for ticks after a walk through the woods is another way to avoid contracting Lyme disease, as well as recognizing symptoms of the illness to begin treatment as soon as possible. The rich and famous are no exception. Pop singer Avril Lavigne came forward with her battle with the disease in April, after realizing her symptoms months earlier in the summer of 2014. "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Yolanda Foster also shared her struggles with the disease, saying she had lost the ability to read, write, and watch television.
