Turkey: Syrian Kurds Push Ahead
The Syrian-Kurdish YPG militia has gained ground over the Isis controlled Syrian town of Tel Abad on the Turkish border. A few pockets of ISIS fighters and their allies remain there. The YPG militia says it has encircled the town with the help of U.S. led airstrikes, seizing more territory as the days pass. The fighting between the YPG and ISIS militants has already forced over 19,000 people to flee into Turkey from Syria since the first days of June. This comes as government military operations continue against extremists. Meanwhile, in the in the northeast Sweida area, the Syrian Arab Army has destroyed the Islamic State group. Military sources have confirmed that direct strikes have killed several members of ISIS as well as a number of Al Nusra Front Members. Members of the National Defense Force say they are present as a backup for the Syrian Arab Army. Hazem Abdullah reports for teleSUR.
