South Korea's President cancels planned US visit as more deaths from MERS are announced

Precautionary measures are being extended in South Korea where a further two people have died from Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS.

13 more people have been infected, bringing the total being treated to 108.

Some say that not enough has been done to prevent the spread of the virus.

South Korea’s President has postponed this weekend’s planned visit to the US to oversee the crisis at home. The country’s Deputy Prime Minister urged people not to panic and continue with their daily routine.

Screening has been stepped up in all public areas. On the streets, people are wearing masks. A month ago, no one in South Korea had heard of MERS. Now it is on everyone’s mind.
