It took a while for Russia's women to get going at the EuroBasket, but once they shifted into a higher gear in Chieti, there was no stopping them. Russia were unimpressive in beating Italy, France and Greece in Group C, and then lost to Serbia in the qualifying round. But they rebounded and reached the final, only to nearly blow a 20-point lead at half-time against Spain. They eventually held on for a 74-68 triumph and after receiving their gold medals, the Russians cut down the nets and posed for photos. During the celebrations, reserve forward Natalia Vodopyanova and assistant coach Natalia Hejkova, the boss of reigning EuroLeague Women champions Spartak Moscow Region, spoke to Jeff Taylor..
