Mexico: Protests and calls for boycott ahead of state elections

Protesting teachers have set fire to offices belonging to Mexico’s national electoral institute just days before mid-term elections are due to take place in several of the country’s states.
There have been calls to boycott the election over a number of issues including Mexico’s high level of violence, which has claimed the lives of over 100,000 since 2007, and President Peña Nieto’s planned education reforms.
