Argentina Concludes May Revolution Festivities
  • 9 years ago
Argentina has concluded its celebration of the 205th anniversary of the May Revolution of 1810. Hundreds lined the streets to see Regiment officers escort General José de San Martín’s sword, which had been stolen in 1963, to its home in the National History Museum. The general is known as one of the liberators of Spanish America. Historically, the May Revolution was a reaction to Spain’s Peninsula War between 1807 and 1814, and kicked off the nation’s War of Independence from 1810 to 1818. teleSUR
