Mexico: Candidates Killed, Threatened in Local Elections

The July 7 local elections in Mexico have been marred by violence, with more than a dozen candidates having been threatened, kidnapped, or killed. In the past few weeks, two mayoral candidates were killed. The president of the Party of the Democratic Revolution, Carlos Navarrete, called on the all the parties to take steps to insure that organized crime does not succeed in terrorizing voters. teleSUR
