Thai man charged with gruesome murder of ex-boyfriend

Thirty-six-year-old Pradit Suwannaphak was yesterday charged with killing his gay lover Kriangkrai Khwan-on, 24, and dismembering his body in Chai Nat on April 17. On the night of the murder, Kriangkrai came to Pradit's residence in Uthai Thani's Muang district. The killing occurred after Kriangkrai asked Pradit for 20,000 baht for nose surgery and threatened to leak a sex 3tape of him when he refused. This led to an altercation during which Pradit took out a .38 pistol and shot him in the head, killing him instantly.
On the morning of April 17, Pradit used a meat cleaver to cut up the victim's corpse. He allegedly packed the arms and legs into one plastic bag and the torso into another, before setting the victim's head on fire to burn off the flesh before dumping the remains in a dry canal in the neighbouring province of Chai Nat. Kriangkrai's body was discovered on April 18 by villagers after they spotted a dog carrying human remains.
Pradit was taken into custody after police found bloodstained clothes and the dead man's cell phone at his house. Police originally suspected there was more than one killer as the limbs of the dead man were so neatly severed. The killer had been in a homosexual relationship with the victim for about a year after they met on Facebook.
