Vietnam makes successful test flights of indigenously-built drones

Vietnam's Space Technology Institute, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology has conducted tests of six unmanned aerial vehicles in Lam Dong province in the country's central highlands.

The three days of test flights gathered information about the country's forest and water resources using cameras and other equipment. The UAVs captured hundreds of high resolution images, spectrological and other data.
The aircraft can takeoff from runways, launchpads, or from the roofs of vehicles. The flights between May 17 and 19 were all flown using onboard autopilot.

The landmark flights were made with machines built entirely in Vietnam using inspiration from Russian designs.
