A truck driver remains critically ill after falling 20 meters from an overpass when his truck crashed and flipped in Melbourne early Friday morning, according to Australian media reports.
The truck was traveling on the 20-meter high Bolte Bridge at around 6.30am when the incident occurred.
According to reports, after colliding with a car, the truck smashed into the side barrier before flipping onto its side, leaving it hanging precariously over the edge.
During the crash, the driver of the truck, aged in his 30s, was thrown out of the cabin and fell 20 meters on to Mark Street, which runs below the bridge.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in critical conditions with severe head and pelvic injuries. The male driver of the car is in a stable condition at The Alfred hospital, the Age reported.
According to "The Australian", police said the truck had been secured but it is dangling from the bridge and it will take several hours before it can be removed.
