ANIMAL CRUELTY: Man shoots dog; saves $350

A man shot his dog four or five times with a rifle after he came home to find she had been in the trash. Evan Welcher, 26, got angry with his dog, Queenie, and starting beating her. She ran to his bedroom and peed on the bed and Welcher went into a rage. He tied Queenie up in the basement and though a friend tried to calm him, he shot in the American Bulldog mix through the eye. Welcher's mother intervened and the friend left, though he heard about four more shots fired. The friend called 9-1-1 and Welcher was arrested.
