Dan Nainan punches Josh Rogin at DC Improv

Dan Nainan punched Josh Rogin in the face. Twice. In front of other people at the DC Improv. Last night.

Nainan, the self-styled "100 percent clean Indian" comedian, saw that Rogin, senior correspondent of Newsweek Daily Beast, had tweeted less-than-flattering comments about his stand-up routine during a charity show at the DC Improv. Being the sensitive-type, he got royally P.O.'d, found Rogin at the back of the theater during the next set, then slugged him in the jaw. But the once wasn't enough and 10 seconds after Nainan walked away, he went back and hit Rogin a second time.

The thrashing all started with a tweet that said, "Dan Nainan was funny until he dusted off his 2005 Katrina jokes in a gratingly bad GWB impression. #DCImprov." A few moments later, he let out a second snub, "Dan Nainan makes his umpteenth joke about how Asians cant distinguish between letters "L" and "R". Election, erection, we get it. #DCImprov."

Somehow, and it's never explained in reports, Nainan learned about this, like right after it happened. (Does he egosurf the moment he leaves the stage? Does someone do it for him? Did some poor intern let the fact slip with a slight smirk on his face? We have no idea.)

What was also never explained is how Nainan was able to recognize Rogin, in bad lighting, so quickly after his own gig ended. But he did. It is reported that he confirmed Rogin's identity before he started swinging, which, you know, is good form.

The attack didn't affect Rogin's Twitter thumbs, as the journalist was able to tweet the progress of the incident, in almost real time. He wrote, "Dan Nainan just punched me in the face. Not a joke." Followed by, "We are calling the police on Dan Nainan who just punched me twice in front of several witnesses. #dcimprov" and "DC police arrested Dan Nainan for assaulting me." Then he thanked his 30,222 followers for their support through the harrowing ordeal.

And so we have learned that while the pen might be mightier than the sword, i
