Silk Road drug market shut down by FBI, Bitcoins useless again

Bitcoins are amazing little pieces of nothing that, with enough of them, can be traded for ganja or used to put contracts out on your online enemies. Or at least they were useful for those purposes until the Silk Road was shut down yesterday. Ross William Ulbricht, or his online persona Dread Pirate Roberts, operated the deep web market where anonymity was a key feature. Want some high quality MDMA? Just send over dem bitcoins! MDMA turn out not to be so high quality? Then leave that seller a scathing review! I'll bet its the first time you were allowed to do that to your drug dealer!
"RabbitHole88's tripple Benz tablets are crap CRAP! And they got all squished together, and he hasn't responded to my PMs! Don't waste your bitcoins on this unscrupulous drug dealer!"

Of course, like every drug movie, what starts out as something good eventually turns into a blood thirsty kill fest where hard choices have to be made about which hit-man to click on. This one has more positive feedback, but this one's avatar looks like a ninja. When Dread Pirate Roberts started having problems with a subordinate, he sought out the help of some hired muscle to help sort the jerk out. But when he realized that intimidation might not work because his employee had done hard time before, he decided to just have him rubbed out. Lucky for the slouching employee, this particular hitman turned out to be an FBI agent.

Tighter and tighter, the authorities closed in, eventually taking over the TOR server in another country where Silk Road was hosted. Then, yesterday, they finally struck, arresting Ross 'Dread Pirate' Ulbricht and loudly declaring, "All your bitcoin are belong to us!"
