FSU vs Clemson: Famous Jameis takes on Tajh Boyd
  • 9 years ago
College football fans across the country are getting ready for the biggest game of the year so far as No. 3 Clemson faces off against No. 5 Florida State this Saturday at Death Valley.

Some analysts are calling this the biggest game in ACC history. Lee Corso and the College GameDay crew will also be in town to cover the game, so we can expect the signs to be out in full force.

The matchup that everyone is talking about is the one between the quarterbacks with Clemson's star senior Tajh Boyd and redshirt freshman phenom Jameis Winston from FSU. Both quarterbacks have been amazing this season. Boyd has had some huge wins against Georgia and LSU. Winston has also played brilliantly, but he hasn't really faced any big teams yet. Pitt definitely doesn't count. However, on the stats side, Winston numbers come out slightly better than Boyd's.

Another big difference for Clemson this year is the strength of their defense. Last year, Clemson let the Noles drop 49 points against them while gaining 667 total yards. This year, defensive end Vic Beasley leads the country in sacks. Clemson also ranks first in tackles for loss per game.

But the thing is, FSU has Famous Jameis Winston. Boyd has more experience, but Winston has already exceeded all the huge expectations put on him before the season started. In Winston's last three ACC games, he's tossed the pigskin for at least 300 yards and four touchdowns in each. Winston is also coming off his best game yet with 393 yards and 5 touchdowns. Winston has also had an extra week of to prepare for the Tigers' defense.

The winner of this game could possibly go on to play for the national championship while the winning quarterback may have a Heisman Trophy to look forward to.
