One Transportation Security Agent was killed in a shooting that took place inside Terminal 3 of Los Angeles International Airport on Friday morning (November 1). At least six other people were injured before police shot the gunman and apprehended him, according to authorities.

The gunman, believed to be a former TSA agent, pulled an assault rifle out of a bag and opened fire inside the terminal, said Patrick Gannon, chief of the Los Angeles Airport Police. Witnessed said the gunman was dressed in military-style clothing. Los Angeles police spokeswoman Officer Norma Eisenman said the suspect was in custody and was believed to be the only one gunman at the scene.

Los Angeles Times and ABC News cited law enforcement in reporting that an agent had been killed. A Los Angeles fire department spokesman said seven people were hurt and that six of them were taken to area hospitals.

The incident sparked chaos within the airport as bystanders ducked for cover. One witness said an exit door was opened, with the alarm going off as people poured onto the tarmac. Both Terminal 2 and 3 of the airport were evacuated and planes were grounded as police arrived on the scene.
