Maki Saito, a 41-year-old unemployed woman, was charged with conspiracy to inflict bodily injuries resulting in death of Shinobu Ota this past Monday. The suspect was believed to tie the victim up using an animal collar to restrain her movements and then

Maki Saito was one of founders of Myoshu Group that made followers believe they were able to communicate with Gods. She set up the group in 1999. It is said that Shinobu Ota had become one of members since she was 31. Since September to October in 2012, Maki Saito was suspected of conspiring with three other male accomplices at a flat in Aomori City to unleash a fierce attack on Shinobu Ota, which resulted in the death of multiple organ failure.

The Aomori District Court demanded a prison sentence of 20 years for Maki Saito and ruled for her to 15 years in jail, as they judged that the three male accomplices were involved in the bashing under the initiative of her. She deserved a much harsher prison sentencs. The three male accomplices were given prison sentences of 9 to 12 years respectively. The court effectively spread more of the blame out over the group, but did single Saito out as ring leader, thus the slightly longer prison time given.
