Mount Everest new rule: climbers must return with 8kg of trash

Climbers of the world's tallest mountain Mount Everest will have to bring back 8 kg of trash under new rules that will come into effect in April.
According to the BBC, the rule will apply to climbers who climb above the Everest base camp at 5,300 m. All climbers must bring back at least 8 kg of rubbish, excluding their own oxygen cylinders and human waste on their descent.
Authorities would take legal action against climbers who failed to comply the new rule but it was not clear what kind of penalty it would involve, the Guardian reported. At the moment, Nepal's government already requires climbers to return all their rubbish or risk of losing a $4,000 deposit.
According to the Week, an estimated 10 tons of trash remain on the Mount Everest, even after 13 tons were removed between 2008 and 2013. All camps except for the base camp has garbage problems including human waste and the frozen corpses of climbers left in the "death zone" that starts 8000 meters up, which do not decompose in the extreme cold.
