When does self defense cross the line into murder?
That's what a small-town Minnesota jury needs to decide in the coming weeks in the trial of a man who claims he was just protecting his property from burglars.
Byron Smith says he was defending his home on Thanksgiving of 2012 and was shaken and scared due to two previous break ins. But does that justify how he killed two teens that trespassed on his property?
The 65-year-old retired engineer was in his basement with the the two guns when he heard the sounds of his home being broken into. And he had a tape recorder running when he shot and killed 17-year-old Nick Brady and his cousin, 18-year-old Haile Kiefer.
