Authorities in Malaysia say an anti-terror brigade has arrested an Al-Shabab-linked suspect who was on Interpol's most-wanted list.
Malaysian authorities say a counter-terrorism operation in Selangor state netted a 34-year-old East African terror suspect.
The man is believed to have connections to Somali-based militant group Al-Shabab, which joined the militant Islamist organization al-Qaeda as a 'cell' in 2012.
The suspect allegedly fled to Malaysia from Kenya following last year's attack on the Westgate shopping mall.
Malaysian law allows police 28 days to detain and interrogate the suspect before charges are filed.
On April 28, Malaysian police arrested nine individuals, aged between 22 and 55. The men are also believed to be involved in militant activities.
Following the arrest on Thursday, the Minister of Home Affairs told reporters that the government will not allow Malaysia to become a 'launchpad' for terror groups.
