A Taiwan man was found guilty of assault after using an adult movie moan to mock a female shopper before biting her finger in a supermarket brawl.

The incident occurred when a man surnamed Chang (張) from Keelung, northeastern Taiwan, bumped into a woman surnamed Lin (藺) in a supermarket on September 11 last year. Chang asked the woman several times to give way but she ignored him. He then purposely bumped into the woman as he passed and said "i ta i" in a taunting manner before walking away.

"i ta i" ( いたい) means it hurts in Japanese. It is a common moan in Japanese adult movies. But it's inappropriate to use this language as an insult.

Lin felt insulted and confronted Chang. But with no intention of apologizing, Chang even knocked her to the ground. The quarrel then escalated into a severe brawl. Lin's finger was bitten, and she suffered a concussion during the fight. Lin filed a lawsuit against Chang. Chang told the judge that he gets angry easily after a head injury suffered in a car accident ten years ago. That's why he lost control and hurt Lin. Lin said she is still suffering the trauma of the attack and is scared of being assaulted at anytime when on the street.

The judge ruled Chang guilty and ordered him to pay Lin US$9,000 in compensation for her injuries.
