Flight Attendants Fail To Block Device Use On Flights

A flight attendants’ association has lost its bid to overturn the FAA’s 2013 policy change that passengers would be allowed to use small electronic devices during takeoff and landing.

Small personal electronics will still be allowed to be used during a plane’s takeoff and landing, according to a recent federal court of appeals ruling. 


The Association of Flight Attendants had filed suit against the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, and its administrator for overstepping its bounds in making that policy change in 2013. 


The argument behind the legal action was that allowing the use of devices during these periods could result in less attention to safety procedures, or they could become possible projectiles during turbulence.
