Ryan Kelly Chamberlain II sparked a nationwide manhunt after explosive materials were allegedly found in his San Francisco apartment over the weekend. The chase that involved FBI agents and local cops ended on Monday (June 2) with the police capturing the suspect from his car near the Golden Gate Bridge.

The police launched a search for Bay Area media consultant Ryan Chamberlain after federal agents raided his apartment on Saturday, May 31. There they found a messenger bag that contained a model rocket motor, ball bearings, screws, and other materials necessary to construct an improvised explosive device.

Adding to the tension, an automated message detailing financial and personal difficulties was posted on Chamberlain's Facebook page on Monday, June 2, although another message was posted to his Twitter account later that day, which read, "A panicked update to my letter that should have posted by now. Nothing they're reporting is true. No 'stashes.' Not 'armed'..."

According to the police, the suspect did not work very hard to stay under the radar, saying that he even used his ATM card while the manhunt was ongoing. After receiving a civilian tip, the police captured the suspect while he was reclining in his car at the entrance of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The FBI did not detail where they got the information about explosives stashed in Chamberlain's home. Chamberlain was first trialed on Tuesday, and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
