Houston garage collapse: dozens injured in Indian gathering

Around 36 people were hospitalized after the ceiling collapsed over an apparent religious gathering in a Houston garage.
More than 100 people were packed inside a two-story garage next to a home in Harris County when the structure gave way at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. According to reports, nobody was in the garage on the first floor when its ceiling collapsed. Several of those who fell from the second floor were trapped in the debris.
Firefighters and emergency workers treated the injured on the lawn before taking them away in an ambulance. Six children were among those taken to the hospital.
Neighbors said the Indian family who lives in the building had sent letters a few days earlier saying they would be holding a religious ceremony where 150 people were expected to attend.
