Mexico: Suspects in Ayotzinapa Case Claim They Were Tortured

Suspects detained over the disappearances and slaughter of Ayotzinapa students claim they have been tortured by authorities. These allegations could affect their trial. A special envoy of the Inter-American Commission in Human Rights interviewed more than 16 of the 100 suspects in the case, and a relatively large group said they were mistreated or tortured following their arrest. If their rights were not respected, this could have a negative impact on the case, said Carlos Beristain of the IACHR. teleSUR
