A female teacher at Huaisheng junior high school in Taipei, Taiwan grabbed a student’s crotch in front of other students last year during a morning assembly. She even asked the male student whether he felt excited or not.

After the incident, the student was so traumatized that he was diagnosed with PTSD and depression. He began self harming at school, and even told his family he wanted to commit suicide. However, the school’s only reprimand was only to give the teacher a demerit, but not suspend her, meaning she could continue teaching at the school.

The parents of the student demanded that the school fire the teacher, and have filed a lawsuit against her. Even though the Department of Education has ruled this incident as sexual harassment, but does not think that it merits a suspension.

While the teacher have appealed the lawsuit, officials from the department of education have reassured that whether the student wants to continue his education at the junior high school or another institution, the student has their full support on his decision. The teacher have since been transferred elsewhere.
