Light aircraft crashes in northern Ohio killing four university students

A light aircraft crashed in northern Ohio shortly after takeoff on Monday night, killing all four on board who were going on a sightseeing trip.

The Cessna 172 was carrying four Case Western Reserve University students, including pilot William Michael Felten, Lucas Vincent Marcelli, Abraham Pishevar and John Hill.

The aircraft reportedly lost power shortly after taking off from Cuyahoga County Airport. Felten requested to turn back to the airport, but the aircraft lost height and crashed onto Bishop Road.

“We heard the propeller, like you could hear that something was wrong with it,” neighbor Ruzanna Tovmasyan told WEWS-TV, a television station based in Cleveland.

Residents went to the wreckage but were deterred from any rescue attempt when the fuel tank exploded.

A preliminary report into the incident will be published within five days, but a detailed investigation could take up to a year.
