Deer hit by police car: police cruiser wrecked after it slams into stag in Jonesboro, Arkansas\

A Jonesboro, Arkansas police car is out of commission after it slammed into a deer last weekend in an incident caught on the police cruiser’s dash cam.

Although you can’t see it in the video, photos posted online by KAIT-TV Region 8 News show that the collision completely wrecked the front end of the car.

The incident happened on North Church Street and is one of several that have been reported in the area.

Collisions with deer are most common at dawn and dusk.

Jonesboro Police Department Sergeant George Martin said in a report by the Associated Press that it's best to watch your speed at night this time of year. Also if you see one deer, know that more are likely close behind.

“If you try to swerve, a lot of times that’s where we see our bad wrecks where they’ll swerve to try and avoid it at a high rate of speed,” Martin said.
