Saudi Arabia vs ISIS: drive-by shooting of two police officers ordered by Islamic State

Saudi Arabia's interior ministry said on Friday that a man arrested for killing two police officers and injuring two others in separate attacks in Riyadh has confessed that he was following orders from the Islamic State.

Mohammed Abdulrahman Abu Niyan, 23, was arrested last week while trying to cross the border into Yemen on suspicion of involvement in a drive-by attack on March 29 that injured two police officers and in a second such attack on April 8 in which two officers were killed.

The ministry said Abu Niyan filmed the shootings on a mobile phone and was preparing car bombs for more attacks.

A bounty of 1 million riyals ($266,666) has been placed on Abu Niyan's alleged accomplice, Nawaf bin Sharif Samir al-Onaizi. The ministry al-Onaizi was using a Moroccan name and accent to evade detection.
