Baby born without anus terrifies superstitious father, abandons own son in hospital
  • 9 years ago
Last year in Taichung city, Taiwan, a young couple were horrified to hear that their first child, a son, had been born with a physical defect.

Their son had an imperforate anus, also known as an anorectal malformation. This may be due to a genetic malfunction where the cells do not divide properly and the digestive tract fails to fully develop. This can happen in 1 out of every 5,000 births.

This situation can be more traumatizing for Chinese speaking individuals who are superstitious, as a common curse in Taiwan is: May your child be born without an anus!

It may explain why after taking one look at his son the father proceeded to walk out and have nothing to do with the poor newborn baby.

Doctors explain that the baby boy required immediate surgery to open a passage and have a colonoscopy placed into the side of his torso for feces to exit his body. The newborn then had three more surgeries to build an anus. Doctors explained the boy may suffer from bowel control problems and could easily become constipated, but he would otherwise live a normal life.

Hopefully the father can get over his issues with his child’s birth defect and stop being such an ***hole about it.
