Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious; (Suratul Nisa Ayah 36).
The great scholar Sufyan ath-Thawri (may God be pleased with him) is reported to have said,
"Knowledge is three hand-spans: the first breeds arrogance, the second breeds humility, and in the third, you realize you know nothing." so, If knowledge is not attached to TAQWA(a shield against wrongdoing and further expounded as to be "conscious of Allah" or to have "fear of Allah" or to be "cautiously aware of Allah), knowledge becomes means of ARROGANCE."
