Originally meant to be a biography of a guitarist, Baxendale, a group of indie-filmmakers from Denver, Colorado aspire to rope in the star of the time, Johnny Depp, for the movie.

The idea strikes the directors because Johnny happens to have a background in music, which would make for a perfect fit for the character. However, they must meet Johnny first to let him have a look at an honest script and tell him how they eagerly want him to be part of it. They embark on a cross country ride to get to the star for a movie pitch, which they think can be done only by Depp.
